Network cables (also called ethernet cables, cat5 or cat6, or patch cables) carry electric fields from nearby power cords and lines. These electric fields contain dirty electricity - frequency pulses generated by electronics which are not compatible with the human body. Shielded network cables are the solution to this, but they MUST be properly grounded.
Most consumer devices (modems, routers, switches, laptops, etc) do NOT properly ground network cables. This handy adapter fixes that problem with ease. Simply plug 2 shielded cables into it, and it will properly ground each cable, providing the protection you need around your work place and any other area where you spend much time or are in close proximity to the network cable.
Laptop computers are almost always ungrounded. When the laptop is plugged-in to the charger, and the laptop user is nearby or touching the computer - the user is being greatly exposed to high-frequency current. This has been measured in the lab. When a laptop is grounded through its ethernet port with this adapter, it greatly reduces this current. The most recent test showed a nearly 98% reduction in current traveling through the human body as soon as the ElectraHealth Ethernet Grounding Adapter was plugged-in.
VIDEO Features: An ElectraHealth original and exclusive product. Individually handmade proudly in the USA! Sturdy plug and soldered connections. 6 foot ground plug/cable made from reclaimed cords - super environmentally-friendly. Cat6A approved adapter is future-proof for gigabit speeds and beyond. Includes: Grounding adapter 1 foot shielded cat6 Ethernet cable How to use:
Use this adapter kit to ground a laptop or other portable device. It can also be used to ground long Ethernet runs from one room to another or through walls. Desktop computers with grounded plugs do NOT need this adapter. But other non-grounded devices like laptops and printers should use this adapter to reduce electric field readings near the body AND ground the unit greatly reducing high frequency contact current. If you have a long cable run going from a modem to a router, or a router to a switch, etc, and would like to make sure electric fields do not propagate on the Ethernet wire, this grounding kit is great for that use as well.
Simply plug the 1 foot cable into one device, then plug it into the grounding adapter, make sure you plug the grounding adapter into a properly grounded outlet (use
this outlet tester
to make sure). Then plug a longer
Premium Shielded Ethernet Cable
into the adapter and into your other device. You can use the short or long cable wherever you like - it is fully bi-directional. So set it up however is most convenient.
